About The Citadel

In 1924, the doors to this grand structure were opened for the members of the local social club during the era of The Great Gatsby, and the parties and events held within its walls matched that of the fictional character.

Today, after years as a private residence, the Citadel is once again accepting bookings as the premier venue for personal, social, and corporate events in central Texas.

“Too many generations have not had the opportunity to set foot on these grounds," says owner Edward Smith III. “Our vision is to open the doors to a spectrum of guests, as host to culinary events, champagne brunches, personal dinners, corporate events, parties, and of course, weddings.”

The Smith family carefully refurbished this magnificent jewel while still maintaining its classic Art Deco style. Wide verandas embrace both levels of the structure and provide a perfect view of the setting sun. A sweeping staircase greets you on the front drive and draws you inside where you will find both banquet and a ballroom boasting wide board floors, original steel beams, a warm bar and inviting fireplaces.

The grounds include a luxurious, original 1920's pool, vineyard, expansive lawns and a patio for outdoor receptions and parties. Plans are included for a horse arena, skeet-shooting stations, and a lounging room for the gentlemen.
